Ginger tea: the variations


Ginger tea can also be prepared in association with other ingredients, which allow you to amplify its beneficial properties.


Ginger: properties

Ginger is the underground part of a medicinal plant. It has the shape of a thick and twisted root, with a yellow color and a characteristic flavour : pungent, balsamic and spicy.

Ginger is very useful as a natural remedy , these are its main properties:

  • digestive ; 
  • cough and cold reliever ; 
  • removes nausea ; 
  • increases appetite ; 
  • hypocholesterol ; 
  • protects  liver and gallbladder; 
  • freshens the breath ; 
  • eliminates abdominal swelling ; 
  • speeds up the metabolism.

Ginger tea, which uses this root as a basic remedy, and especially when obtained from the fresh rhizome, is a panacea both in winter and in summer.

Some variants associate ginger with other medicinal herbs, amplifying their beneficial effects.


Ginger and turmeric herbal tea

The anti-inflammatory properties of turmeric are combined with the calming properties of ginger : suitable for colds and respiratory tract diseases.

It also has a stomach protective , detoxifying and antioxidant effect .

Preparation

Grate the ginger root and add it to a cup of boiling water and let it sit for 5 minutes.

Grate a small piece of fresh turmeric or add a scant half teaspoon of turmeric powder to the cup. This herbal tea is great to drink both hot and cold.

If the ginger flavor is too pungent, strain the pulp before mixing in the turmeric.


Ginger and cinnamon herbal tea

The ginger and cinnamon herbal tea is digestivedecongestant and  draining. It warms up the stomach and speeds up metabolism and digestion.

Preparation

Cut the ginger root into small pieces and boil it in water for 5 minutes together with a cinnamon stick. Filter and drink hot.

Used after eating, it relieves any heaviness in the stomach  and accelerates peristalsis, avoiding swelling and the formation of intestinal gas. Used in case of nausea it allows to relieve them.

It is also a diuretic and mildly tonic herbal tea: therefore it is better to avoid it before sleeping, to avoid agitation or frequent awakenings.


Ginger, lemon and honey herbal tea

The ginger, lemon and honey herbal tea is highly digestive and thirst-quenching . Thanks to the presence of lemon and honey, it is also a supplement of salts and vitamins, useful for those who practice sports and sweat profusely.

It is also an excellent energizer and useful for speeding up the metabolism . Finally, thanks to the presence of honey, it calms coughs , sore throats and colds.

Preparation

Grate a small piece of ginger root into a cup or more of water and boil for 5 minutes.

Once the fire is extinguished, add the juice of a lemon and a teaspoon of honey.
