Digestive herbal teas are useful for relieving the sense of fullness and excess gas that can cause bloating and abdominal pain.

Digestive herbal tea with mint

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon dried or fresh mint leaves ;
  • 250 milliliters of water.


Preparation

Heat the water and add the mint leaves, fresh or dried, after the water has boiled. Leave to infuse for about five minutes, filter and drink the herbal tea.

Mint is a useful remedy in case of nausea and also helps to eliminate gas and swelling in the stomach and intestines. It should not be taken if you suffer from gastroesophageal reflux as it could worsen this symptom for which the decoction of licorice root is recommended .

Other aromatic herbs that help in case of bad digestion are basil, rosemary, bay leaf , marjoram, oregano and thyme. They can be used fresh or dried to prepare herbal teas, alone or mixed together.

Digestive tea with anise

Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon star anise ;
  • 1 cup of hot water.


Preparation

After placing the star anise in a cup of cold water, heat it up, bring it to the boil and turn off the water. It is then left to rest for 15 minutes with a lid and after which the herbal tea is consumed.

Star anise, like fennel, is used in popular medicine for its digestive and carminative properties, to reduce swelling and tension in the abdomen, symptoms of excess gas in the intestine. A similar action to star anise and fennel is also achieved with green anise, cumin and coriander .

Digestive herbal tea based on hyssop

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon dried hyssop leaves and flowers ;
  • 250 milliliters of water.
     

Preparation

Infuse dried hyssop leaves and flowers in previously boiled water, filter after about ten minutes and consume.

Hyssop is a herb with a thousand virtues, which can also be harvested spontaneously. In addition to promoting digestion, the secretion of gastric juices and the elimination of intestinal gas , it is a valid ally to defeat coughs and disorders related to the respiratory tract.

Ingredients

Place the chamomile flower heads in boiling water and leave to infuse for five minutes before filtering and drinking the infusion.

Chamomile is sedative and antispasmodic and helps relieve abdominal cramps caused by indigestion, anxiety and agitation.
 

Digestive infusion with lemon and ginger

Ingredients

  • 1 centimeter of ginger root;
  • 1 tablespoon of lemon juice ;
  • 250 milliliters of water;
  • 1 tablespoon of honey.
     

Preparation

Place the ginger root cut into slices in a saucepan with the water, bring to the boil and remove from the heat. Leave to infuse for 10-15 minutes with the lid on, then filter and add the honey and lemon juice. Mix and consume the herbal tea.

Ginger root helps fight nausea, while lemon has a digestive action and honey soothes the mucous membranes .
